The Berry Colony at Île-Tudy begins its activities. In July, the girls were under the supervision of Mme Louise Garban. In August, the boys took over under the supervision of Father Philippe Augé from 1957, with Father Francis Lebrun as counselor. Father Lebrun went on to become director and then chairman of the Berry-Tudy association.
The buildings are evolving. A dormitory now covers the kitchen area, while another dormitory is being constructed above the « hot showers » on the riverside.
Thanks to the sale of a large plot of land on Île-Tudy and help from the Cher Family Allowance Fund (CAF), a vast renovation project was launched. It was the work of Mgr Le Guenne’s own nephew, Jean-François L’Ollivier, an architect from Pont-l’Abbé. He presented a renovation plan for the rooms and bathrooms, all overlooking the Pont-l’Abbé river. The first phase of the project went into operation in 1967.
The first deep fryer is inaugurated. Pictured on the left are the Île-Tudy couple, the Jégou, who oversee the colony.
